Travel Destination: Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia Map - ItalySardinia, Italy; a place of adventure, relaxation, organic food and above all sincere and genuine people. In a world where time is money and some people find it difficult to simply cross the street to greet a friend and exchange a few words before continuing on with business, the mystical Italian island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea is a place that seems to lie outside of time.

Time is a funny concept on this island. A store may close and open sometimes according to the eating and sleeping patterns of the owner on that particular day. You may wait an hour at the post office to mail a letter only to find out that they ran out of stamps earlier that afternoon. When dining at a restaurant, you will surely have to ask for your bill a couple times before they bring it to you. It is only because they want to make sure you have eaten well, drank well, are still enjoying your company. They will probably treat you to an after dinner drink if you stick around. In Sardinia, no one is in a hurry and there is always time.

In a world where food is mass produced and growth hormones are added, in Sardinia you can still find fresh vegetable, fruits, cheese, wine, meat, fish and more. In fact, if you really open your eyes while traveling the island you will find "produzione proprio" which means "grown or made here." Eating is a priority. Eating well is mandatory. Each region has its specialties and all goes splendidly with the islands red Cannonau or Vermentino white wine.

Sardinia
Sardinia is a place that for years has thrived on tourism, but it is still discreet. In the months of March through May and September through November, you may be the only one on the beach getting tan and dipping in the sea for the weather is fantastic but tourists are few.

Sardinia is an island with many faces; mountains, beaches, forests, lakes, sand dunes and rivers. It is a place of ancient history and archaeological ruins. Most importantly, it is a place where in a very busy time in our world, people live with simplicity and happiness and without doubt, will surely cross the street just to say hello and exchange a few words.

As the pace of society accelerates, there is a deep desire to get back to basic essentials of life; the essentials of natural food and time to digest it, clean air and time to breath it, a smile from a neighbor and time to smile back. Sardinia is a place where these elements of life are not lost. It is a place to experience the joy in simplicity and revive your inner soul that asks for it. In Sardinia, you have all the time you want.
